Single Family House in Vale Ferro

The aim of this project is to make human-nature relations viable, taking advantage of the local natural conditions, within a philosophy that is better suited to current environmental concerns.

As a result of this concern, a prefabricated house is proposed, which is easy and quick to implement. The intention is to place the house on a platform elevated above the ground, so that the effect of visual and edaphic buffering is reduced as much as possible. That said, we have a light house, efficient in energy and environmental terms and attentive to the wishes of the client who aspires to a quiet life in the countryside.

In reinforcing the aforementioned premises, we propose a house that lives from the duality between the external and internal environment, in a paradox in which the interrelationships of Bio and Noosphere are even more evident: a house in the countryside, a field at home. As a fundamental example, we have a Living and Dining Area whose limits are lost in the visual horizon. Although the house has a contemporary language and materiality, it has a strong relationship with the Algarve’s architecture, of which the white color, the spans of controlled dimensions and the use of the flat roof, lead the inhabitant to a full experience of the constructed object, without abdicating the quality of each of the spaces. The entire housing program is developed in a floor and a recess, supported by a metallic structure organized so that its execution is all the same and sequenced. The vertical and horizontal vestments, in turn, will function as a skin that will bring cohesion to the whole set. Although with different treatment on each floor, the end result will be a very horizontal house, light in all aspects and above all serene.
